HAVOK’s Unnatural Selection Set For Release

Candlelight Records confirms June 25 as the North American release date for Unnatural Selection, the new studio recording from Denver thrashers HAVOK. The ten-song album was produced by David Sanchez with mixing handled by Terry Date (Pantera, Overkill, Deftones). Unnatural Selection features original artwork from Polish illustrator Rafal Wechterowicz (Slayer, Mastodon) and was mastered by James Murphy (Aborted, World Under Blood, Abigail Williams).
“Give Me Liberty… Or Give Me Death,” the first single from Unnatural Selection, will hit Loud Rock/Metal radio on May 27. The topical song is a furious and urgent anthem that displays the band’s classic thrash and old school metal sound. Vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez ignites the fret board and barks the righteous lyrics while drummer Pete Webber punishes his immense kit. The song’s towering sound benefits from the unique acoustics of the old theater that was utilized as one of the many recording locations for the album. “I am super pumped on how the drums came out,” chimes Webber. “We recorded the drums in a theater to get a huge sound. It was a challenging experience for me between time constraints and the drum parts having much more feeling in them. I believe the added pressure made for some really awesome stuff. I can’t wait to unleash this album to the world.”
Unnatural Selection bears a far more mature collection of songs when compared to Burn (2009), and Time Is Up (2011). HAVOK has truly hit their mark with a sound that will please fans new and old. Additional album standouts include album opener “I Am The State,” “Chasing The Edge,” and the band’s rendition of the Black Sabbath classic “Children of the Grave.”
Unnatural Selection Track Listing:
1. I Am The State
2. Give Me Liberty… Or Give Me Death
3. It Is True
4. Under the Gun
5. Waste of Life
6. Untitled
7. Chasing the Edge
8. Worse Than War
9. Children of the Grave
10. Unnatural Selection
HAVOK will premiere material from Unnatural Selection tomorrow when they take the stage for the start of their European tour with Suffocation and Cephalic Carnage. The 28-city tour begins in Genève, Switzerland and will conclude in Munchen, Germany on June 8. Before departing for Europe, the band performed at a Denver Benefit. Sanchez comments, “We were honored to be part of HaneyStock. The show was a benefit for Chris Haney who was a bartender at the Gothic Theatre in our hometown who was senselessly murdered trying to break up a fight. All proceeds from the show are going to his young daughter. It was a great event that celebrated the life of an outstanding individual.”
HAVOK has planned three special record release performances. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at venue box offices and companion ticket agencies. A copy of Unnatural Selection will be included with ticket purchase to these area performances. HAVOK is planning a full North American tour for early summer. Details will be announced shortly. For a full list of dates on their European tour visit the band’s official Facebook page HERE.

6/21/2013 Marquis Theatre – Denver, CO
6/22/2013 Black Sheep – Colorado Springs, CO
6/23/2013 Aggie Theater – Ft. Collins, CO
HAVOK, called “the finest thrash band in existence” by PopDose, released their full-length debut, Burn, mid-2009. The record found an immediate fan base and the curiosity of media around the globe. Time Is Up would follow in 2011. “HAVOK have hit their stride,” said Decibel Magazine in review of the album. “HAVOK is everything that is great about thrash,” added Terrorizer. In 2012, the band released their EP Point of No Return; videos for the EPs two original songs were released earlier this year. To view “Point of No Return” click HERE. To view “From the Cradle to the Grave” click HERE. The videos have had over 200,000 views to date. Metal Underground says, “HAVOK kicks your ass from the moment you hit play, and doesn’t ever let up.”
HAVOK is guitarist/vocalist Dave Sanchez, bassist Mike Leon, guitarist Reece Scruggs, and drummer Pete Webber. The band uses/endorses ESP Guitars, Charvel Guitars, EMG Pickups, Ernie Ball, Peavy Amplification, Pearl Drums, Trick Drums, and Sabian Cymbals.

DWNTWN embarks on two week tour with Capital Cities and Gold Fields.
"The band is setting off what should be a big year for them...Light on the ears, ignorant to miss" - EARMILK
L.A. based synth pop trio, DWNTWN has just been added to the second half of the Capital Cities tour, Dancing With Strangers. They pick up the tour with Gold Fields in Colorado Springs on May 21 and finish in Los Angeles with two sold out shows at the El Rey Theatre, June 6 and June 7.
This two week US run comes on the heels of DWNTWN's Los Angeles residency at Central SAPC in April.
DWNTWN's new collaboration with Jhameel and Giraffage, "Move Me" (which PITCHFORK calls a "sparkling electro-pop single") reached #3 on Hype Machine and was also selected for the recently released Kitsuné America 2 compilation. This is the second time DWNTWN has been featured on one of Kitsuné's trendsetting compilations. Their song "See My Eyes" was chosen last year for the first Kitsuné America release and this song too reached #3 on Hype Machine.
The band's four song EP, The Red Room, is available now and includes fan favorites "See My Eyes" and "Stood Me Up".
DWNTWN will appear with Capital Cities at the Black Sheep on 5/21, and also the Aggie Theater on 5/23.

LOGIC
Visionary Music Group Tour
w/ Skizzy Mars
BLACK SHEEP
Saturday, May 25th
SUMMIT MUSIC HALL
Tuesday, June 11th
Skizzy Mars will open the show. Showtime is 9:00 PM. Doors open at 8:00 PM.
Beginning in his home state of Maryland, upcoming star Logic (born Robert Bryson Hall II) has been crushing the rap scene since he was 17 years old. Logic cites the Wu Tang Clan as his influence in the early days.
Growing up without a father figure in his life, Logic left home and has been flying solo ever since. A compulsive perfectionist, Logic is “…always in the studio recording and mixing,” and doesn’t frequently “party and hang out, play video games and go on vacation.” Above anything, the results show in his lyrics. He is the most dedicated rapper in the game, hands down.
To this date, Logic has dropped three mixtapes, entitled Young, Broke & Infamous, Young Sinatra and Young Sinatra: Undeniable. His ‘The All I Do’ video was the first for Logic to hit over one million views. On March 15, 2012 Billboard declared Logic as the Next Big Sound, meaning he was the fastest accelerating artist across the internet gaining fans. On March 20, 2012 Logic officially signed with Visionary Music Group. Logic completed his first national headlining tour, the Visionary Music Group Tour, along with Tayyib Ali. The tour sold out 20 of its 25 stops. Logic just completed a highly successful first European tour (March 2013), which included stops in Amsterdam, Belgium, Switzerland, and London. His fourth mixtape, Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever, is slated for a spring 2013 release.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 12, 2012
THE DIRTY HEADS and SHINY TOY GUNS ANNOUNCE CO-HEADLINE TOUR ODYSSEY POWERED BY PUREVOLUME
TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14
New York, NY –So-Cal alt rockers The Dirty Heads and LA electro-rock outfit Shiny Toy Guns have announced their co-headline Tour Odyssey Powered by PureVolume. The North American winter tour will have support from up-and-coming San Francisco alt/pop/rock band Midi Matilda, as well as emerging dance/rock band Oh No Fiasco. The month-long run kicks off on February 13th in Dallas, TX and wraps up in Denver, CO on March 8th. The bands have partnered with PureVolume, which will provide exclusive content from all bands throughout the tour, ticket and merchandise giveaways, and more. While The Dirty Heads and Shiny Toy Guns both call Five Seven Music their label home, their sounds are quite different, which promises to provide an exciting and eclectic night of music for concertgoers. The Dirty Heads and Shiny Toy Guns recently wrapped up sold out US tours this fall, both to rave reviews. Tickets are on sale Friday, December 14 beginning at 10:00AM EST and can be found via The Dirty Heads’ or Shiny Toy Guns’ websites.
Formed in 2003 out of Huntington Beach, CA, The Dirty Heads combine an intriguing mix of hip-hop, reggae and alternative rock with a sunny California swagger. The band’s most recent release, Cabin By The Sea, which features guests Del the Funky Homosapien, KyMani Marley and Matisyahu was globally released this past summer to rave reviews. Huffington Post said: “Summer 2012 officially has its soundtrack.”
The album is the band’s first debut on Billboard’s Top 20, as well as a peak position at #8 on iTunes overall music chart, #4 on iTunes Alternative chart and #3 on iTunes Independent chart. The Dirty Heads’ debut album, Any Port In A Storm, released in September of 2008, features the hit track “Lay Me Down,” a song that spent eleven weeks at #1 on the Billboard alternative chart, more than any single that year by any other artist. It is a certified gold single. Rolling Stone touted the ‘Heads as one of the year’s best new bands and they were among the first bands featured on YouTube's Raw Session.
Los Angeles electro-rock band Shiny Toy Guns recently released their latest album III, which features the first new material by the original line-up in five years. Production on III is lush and dramatic, ranging from driving tracks like the first single due January 2013 “Somewhere To Hide,” “Waiting Alone” and “Speaking Japanese” into a sonic pendulum swing to the genre bending current release “Fading Listening.” The band teamed up with legendary mixer Tony Maserati (Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keyes) to finalize and sharpen the new 2012 sound of the band. Unlike any other group out there today, SHINY TOY GUNS music is driving rock and electro spearheaded by a male and female vocal courtesy of Chad Petree and Carah Faye. III was heralded as “impeccable…one of 2012’s best” by Associated Press.

| Salvador Santana Live in Denver & Co Springs! |
ShareThis
|
We are pleased to announce two shows with latin rock artist, Salvador Santana, son of legendary guitar player Carlos Santana, live at Marquis on March 8th and at Black Sheep on March 10th! Tickets for these epic shows go on sale this Friday, Dec. 21st! here.
ABOUT SALVADOR SANTANA:
Music is a burst of choices.
Not only what note to play when and with what instrument, but whether to play a note at all. Salvador Santana, the 28-year-old keyboardist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter with strong Bay Area roots, knows what it means to navigate the infinite options of music. His 2008 project with the Salvador Santana Band–simply called SSB–pursued the scope of his ability. But
for Santana, it wasn’t enough. He has no choice but to push himself further.
Collaboration has always been the centerpiece of his creations, and this passion manifested his solo debut “Keyboard City” (released 2/2 via Various Music/Quannum Projects) around the inspirations of a few legends: Bay Area MC/producer Del the Funky Homosapien who helped hone in Santana’s writing skills, Beastie Boy studio wizard Money Mark, and GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan.
The legendary founder of the Wu-Tang Clan rallied support around the album by featuring himself on a remix of the title track “Keyboard City” earlier this fall which was later remixed by none other than Dan Deacon. This spontaneous meeting of the minds demonstrated Sal’s magnetic ability to connect every kind of artist on any dynamic level.
Money Mark inspired Santana in a beautiful way during the creation process. “With all the people I’ve ever collaborated with or just working by myself, I have never produced so many ideas into songs as I have during these Money Mark sessions. That guy is just a machine,” said Santana. “He has mentored me by showing me that it’s cool to be all over the place. It’s cool to sit there and work on a song, then out of nowhere, interrupt that flow and work on another idea. To just go with it,” Santana elaborates.
Santana is pushed by a need to step out of his comfort zone in a quest for new ideas. Easy going and humble, Santana exudes the Bay Area vibe. He began playing the drums at age three–sitting on his father’s lap, controlling the snare and tom, as his father worked the hi-hat and kick drum–but his true love was discovered when he began taking piano lessons when he was six. Later, he studied at San Francisco’s heralded School of the Arts before attending Cal Arts in Valencia, CA. His education, passion and lineage have turned Santana into a monster on the keys.
Music truly thrives in his veins. His maternal grandfather was blues pioneer Saunders King and his paternal grandfather was the internationally celebrated violinist and mariachi bandleader Jose Santana. And, of course, his father is 10X Grammy-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Carlos Santana…who’s also a frequent collaborator (Salvador co-wrote “El Farol” from 1999’s smash album Supernatural).
In addition to his musical desires, Santana has worldly efforts on his mind. After a trip to South Africa and inspiring work with Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA), something triggered inside of Santana to make sure his music wasn’t only about personal glory. Now that the record is out, Salvador will begin touring the project. He has already been posting various non-profit organizations on his website that will receive a percentage of the profits. “I want to use music in a positive way, and give back to people in need. There can never be enough people who do that.” And there can never be enough musicians pushing their art to the brink.
